Analysing Aladdin

Film Studies Closure Work
Mise-En-Scene
Settings:
The main setting in this scene is the castle. The castle is very big and glamorous. It also represents the culture they are living in. The interior of the castle is also an example of the culture so you are able to tell where the movie is set.

Props

The props in this scene is the tray with the tea on it which you can see in this image.

Another prop used in this scene in the hair piece in Jasmine’s hair. This is given to Aladdin so that he can come back the next day.

Costume
In this scene, Jasmine is wearing a dress sort of clothing because she is a princess. Aladdin is wearing fancy clothing because that is the only way he can blend in when he goes to the castle. Dalia was also wearing fancy clothing however less fancy than Jasmine because Dalia is not the princess. The clothing they were really does show their character.

Hair And Makeup
In this scene the makeup is very natural. The hair is very traditional to the culture they are in. Jasmine has a hair piece in her hair which is also quite traditional with their culture.

Lighting
The lighting in this scene is quite natural but most the lighting would come from the moon and the lights as is it night time. Because it is night time, it would be dark so there would lights on in the palace but also the light from the moon which would probably be created by the people on set.

Cinematography
In this scene, there are a few close ups to show expression and a lot of wide shots to show the setting and all the characters.  There is also lots of mid shots to show the characters and their expression and movement and relationships between the characters.

Performance
In this scene, the performance can be quite awkward at times. The reason for this is because Aladdin doesn't know the girl, who claims her name is Dalia, is the real princess so 'Dalia' has to pretend that the real Dalia is the princess. Because Dalia doesn't know about this she finds it very hard to catch on.

Editing
For editing, the editors have used a bit of score in the background and also do normal cuts and some cross cutting when there is a conversation taking place.

Sound
For sound, there is normal dialogue spoken by the characters and also score. Score is background music without lyrics. It matches with the theme of the castle and the culture that they are in.
